Magnesium sulfate-Kalceks

Magnesium sulfate-Kalceks 500 mg/ml has also been prequalified by the World Health Organisation (2 ml and 10 ml).

• For the treatment and prevention of hypomagnesaemia (e.g., after persistent diarrhoea, in cases of diabetes, chronic alcoholism, during pregnancy and lactation, in renal disease with polyuria, also when using “loop” diuretics). Magnesium sulfate is also used for the prevention and treatment of hypomagnesaemia in patients receiving total parenteral nutrition.

• For prevention of seizures (e.g., in epilepsy, uraemia in patients with nephropathy).
• For the treatment and prevention of eclampsia and preeclampsia in pregnant women with late‑onset toxicosis, as well for the cessation of spontaneous abortions and preterm labour.
• As a spasmolytic agent in the early stages of arterial hypertension.
• Due to the cardioprotective effect of magnesium ions, it is used for the prevention of arrhythmias, particularly torsade de pointes-type arrhythmias and arrhythmias associated with hypokalaemia.
